Description
NZ Native Woods – Bereavement Jewelry. Firstly, my deepest condolences for your loss.
I’m truly honored every time I’m approached to make a Ashes and Sand – Memorial Ring.
6mm or 8mm wide Tungsten Carbide Ring, inlaid with sand from the local beach or special a memories beach, complemented with loved ones or pets cremation ashes. This is certainly the most heart-filled rings I make.
When ordering a ring please be aware that I will require 1 heaped tea spoon of ashes per ring, any that is unused will be returned with the ring. I do not touch the ashes at any time. Due to the nature of the ring, lead time can be 3 – 4 weeks.
Please note : Ashes can be added to almost anyone of my rings which has an inlay, please contact me for more information. Ring box not included.
I’m truly honored every time I’m approached to make a memorial ring. The utmost respect will be given to your loved one whilst working with their ashes.

The Deep Significance of Sand
Sand, though simple, can carry significant sentimental weight. It’s often collected from a location that holds fond memories, such as a family beach, a holiday destination, or a place where shared moments were spent with the person being remembered. Including sand in a cremation ring brings this connection to a special location into the memorial, making it even more meaningful.
Sand represents:
- Memories of a Place: Sand from a favorite beach or childhood home creates a connection to a specific location that holds memories shared with the loved one.
- The Passing of Time: Sand symbolizes time and the shifting nature of life, adding a layer of reflection to the ring.
- The Beauty of Nature: Sand, a natural material, emphasizes the organic aspect of life, grounding the ring’s symbolism in nature’s cycle.
Ash and Sand Together: A Symbolic and Beautiful Combination
Combining ash and sand creates a dual symbolism that is both visually appealing and rich with meaning. This mixture can be preserved in clear or tinted resin within the ring, allowing both elements to be visible and to blend in a visually captivating way.
1. A Blending of Memories and Places
When ashes and sand are combined, the ring becomes a tribute not only to the person who has passed but also to the memories made in a meaningful place. This pairing acknowledges the connection between loved ones and the locations where shared moments were spent. It turns the ring into a personal story, a piece of jewelry that holds not just one memory but multiple layers of remembrance.
2. Unique Visual Texture
Ashes and sand together create a distinctive look, as each has its own texture, color, and pattern. Sand might bring a golden, soft, or even vibrant tone, depending on its source, while ashes contribute a natural, neutral element. This blending of textures results in a striking, one-of-a-kind appearance that makes each cremation ring visually unique. No two rings are alike when ash and sand are combined, allowing each ring to tell its own story.
3. A Harmonious Balance of Earthly and Eternal Elements
Sand is a grounding element from the earth, symbolizing the places we know and love, while ashes represent the everlasting essence of a loved one. Together, these materials create a harmonious balance, reflecting the journey of life and the spirit’s lasting impact. It’s a beautiful way to capture both the everyday experiences and the eternal memories shared with the person being remembered.
4. Enhanced Customization for Personal Meaning
For many, the option to include a specific type of sand makes the ring even more meaningful. Sand from a honeymoon destination, a favorite beach spot, or even a shared holiday creates an opportunity to add a personal element to the ring. You could choose sand from somewhere that represents shared love, joy, or peace, enhancing the personal narrative embedded within the ring. This level of customization turns the ring into a sentimental artifact, unique to the wearer’s journey.
Please note the following:
Variation:
These rings are each handcrafted and unique: the colour and wood grain may vary from ring to ring. If you have any specific requirements please message me.
Sizing:
US sizes are available. Please note some rings are limited on sizes due to the style of ring, if only certain sizes are available to choose from this will be listed on the ring description page.
I would recommend getting your finger sized by a jeweler at different times of the day to ensure you get the right size. All rings are made to order and to your specific ring size.
If you don’t know your ring size, then I can send you a free ring sizer after you complete the purchase. or check out other ring sizing options here!
Ring Care:
It is OK to get the ring wet as it has a waterproof coating, however, the best practice is to remove the ring while showering as harsh soaps can remove the protective later on the wood over time. Wood is a natural material and needs to be treated with care and love to ensure you will have the beautiful ring for years to come.
I would recommend occasionally re-applying a beeswax-based product to your ring. I can provide our beautiful Awhitu Peninsula beeswax and mineral oil polish if required.

Packages shipped Internationally can take from 3 – 4 weeks, and sometimes longer depending on travel times through customs.
