Rimu, also known as ‘red pine’, is one of New Zealand’s most popular native timbers. Māori used this wood to build canoes, tools and weapons and its gum was applied for medical purposes. In the early 20th Century, post-European settlement, rimu trees were extensively milled, valued both in the housing industry for it’s hardness and density, as well as the furniture industry for its exceptionally beautiful wooden grain. Because of this excessive logging, after housing construction materials shifted in the 1970s, rimu became a protected species.

Black iron sand used in these rings was formed over 2 million years ago from rock deposited on the coast by volcanic activity in the Taranaki of New Zealand North Island. The sand contains mainly iron sand (titanomagnetite) and lime-soda feldspars. Over time, the dark iron sands have been transported by ocean currents along the coast and deposited on New Zealand beaches

The ring has been polished with local New Zealand beeswax. We used local beeswax from our friends at Nature Bees based on our stunning Awhitu Penninsula. If you haven’t tried their honey…it’s amazing 👌🏻🐝

Please note the following:

——Variation:——

These rings are each handcrafted and unique: the colour and wood grain may vary from ring to ring. If you have any specific requirements please message me.

——Sizing——
If for whatever reason the ring does not fit when you get it, please contact me.

US/CA sizes are available and can be chosen in the drop-down menu. Please contact me for UK Sizes

These wooden rings can be made between 6-10mm in width.

I would recommend getting your finger sized by a jeweler at different times of the day to ensure you get the right size. If the wrong size is requested there could be a rebuild fee.

——Ring Care——

It is OK to get the ring wet as it has a waterproof coating, however, the best practice is to remove the ring while showering as harsh soaps can remove the protective later on the wood over time. Wood is a natural material and needs to be treated with care and love to ensure you will have the beautiful ring for years to come.

I would recommend occasionally re-applying a beeswax-based product to your ring. I can provide our beautiful Awhitu Peninsula beeswax and mineral oil polish if required.
